Introduction
It would be easy to say I started Real Estate the day I earned my Realtor license but in all honesty, my transition into Real Estate started years ago. I just wasn’t aware of it at the time.
When I was at Radford University I worked for a property management and leasing company part time which pretty much primarily served students. I mean there probably were some people who lived in those units who weren’t students but they were few and far between. Anyways, I worked there performing apartment and house maintenance in the spaces between classes and parties and during the summer breaks. And I actually enjoyed it. Something about fixing a leaky faucet or replacing a damaged screen just resonated with me.
Fast forward to after college and my first “real” job was about 8 months later with a nationally recognized window and door company where I performed job verifications and worked with homeowners and contractors on their remodels and renovations. I also found something interesting with the different styles of architecture and design and I guess I just enjoyed looking at people houses.
After four years there, I left and went a totally different path with my current 8-5 W2 job. I traded in the company car and daily windshield time for a desk in a cubicle. At first I didn’t think I made the right move, but over time, much like long term buy and hold in Real Estate, and though work ethic and determination, I rose quickly in the company and it has been extremely beneficial in my personal and professional development. During my time here I have learned some very important customer service and sales lessons which have been invaluable and transition well into Real Estate.
